ValGroup was founded by a family of Italian immigrants who set up a small factory in 1976 in Lorena, SP, Brazil. Over the years, ValGroup has grown exponentially to become one of the largest manufactures and recyclers of rigid and flexible plastic packaging in the world thanks to a strong management system, which values people and allocate resources wisely to support the development of groundbreaking technologies and investments in state-of-the-art machinery as well as deliver innovative sustainable solutions that will help our clients and society achieve their strategic goals.

Currently, ValGroup, a company with more than 40 years of history, 8 subsidiaries, 27 plants, and over 5,000 employees, has operations in the US, Uruguay, Spain, Mexico and Brazil, and offers a full set of products and services to its clients.

ValGroup’s product portfolio includes PET preforms with recycled content, recycled resins (rPET, rPE, rPP), stretch & shrink bundling films, barrier films, BOPP films, laminated films, labels, specialty films (adhesive, building and construction, inclusion wrap, release film, sealant web and trench coat), lids, caps, closure systems, stretch/shrink wrap optimisation (Load Test Centre), monitoring (Valtrac), downgauging, coreless and pre-stretched technologies, and etc.

ValGroup is fully committed to making a positive contribution to society and the environment. To that end, the Group has fully integrated sustainability to its strategy and created its own sustainability program called Sustainable Innovation.

VALGROUP SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION PROGRAM

Sustainability has always been in the Group’s DNA and over the years it has continuously invested in sustainable solutions. ValGroup was the first company to set up a large-scale solvent recycling plant, which not only prevents the release of volatised solvents into the atmosphere but also reduces CO2 emissions significantly. Additionally, ValGroup led the way in the plastics recycling sector. In 2000, the Group set up the first and largest Bottle-to-Bottle PET Recycling plant in Brazil which is able to recycle over a 100 million PET bottles per month and manufactures food-grade rPET resin and preforms. ValGroup also has a large flexible packaging recycling plant, which is able to recycle HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, and PP films.

Therefore, ValGroup is fully aware that innovation is critical to tackle the most pressing issues related to sustainability and in particular a robust circular economy for plastics. Hence, the Group is keen to redouble its efforts and work together with the entire supply chain including suppliers and brand owners as well as governments, NGOs, civil society and other leading organisations across the globe to support the development of cost-effective, sustainable solutions that will underpin a truly circular economy in which plastics never become waste.

To that end, ValGroup has built a solid sustainability platform, the ValGroup Sustainable Innovation Program, which includes the following goals:

– Development of a robust circular economy
– Water stewardship
– Food waste reduction
– Renewable energy
